Father’s Day DIY {Free Printable and Cookie Recipe}

It’s Father’s Day on Sunday and if you don’t know what to get your dad, Vicky of Mocho Loco has a yummy chocolate chip cookie recipe and downloadable printable card she designed for Oh Darling Bride readers. Yes, Vicky is a real darling! Enjoy…

I woke up this morning to realised that I haven’t done anything for my dad yet. Have you? So I made a card and thought I would share it with you. But that’s not all, if your dad has a sweet tooth he’ll love this American chocolate chip cookies recipe. Hope you give it a try and have a great Father’s Day weekend!

{Printable Father’s Day Card}

You can download the card below or click here. It’s very simple – just print, cut and fold. If you’d like to, you could make a lining in a different color paper and tie it with bakers twain or a thin ribbon.

{Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe}

It’s difficult to know how many cookies this recipe makes since I eat so much of the raw dough when I make them (and also so many of the warm cookies I eat before I even have time to count). You should get 24 to 36 cookies.

  • 2 cup cake flour
  • ½ tbsp baking soda
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • ¾ cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup packed treacle sugar
  • ½ cup white sugar
  • 1 tbsp vanilla
  • 1 egg
  • 1 egg yolks
  • 2 cup dark chocolate chunks (I use chopped dark chocolate)
  • 1 cup chopped nuts of your choice – optional

  1. Sift together the flour, soda, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, whisk the melted butter and sugars.
  3. Add the egg, yolk, and vanilla and whisk until light.
  4. Add sifted ingredients and blend, then add chocolate chips, and nuts if using, and blend.
  5. Line cookie sheets with parchment paper and drop tablespoonfuls of dough 3 inches apart. (At this point, I like to sprinkle each cookie with a generous pinch of Maldon salt. I like the salt with the sweet, but maybe I just need all the salt to offset – slightly – the massive amounts of sugar I consume when I bake these cookies).
  6. Bake at 165 C for 10-12 minutes, and remove from the cookie sheet to a cooling rack.

Thanks so much Vicky, the printable is cute and I’m sure that recipe will make many mouths water (as mine is now).
