DIY Rustic Wood Slice Cake Stands

by Monique on October 29, 2012 · 3 comments

Sweet and simple, I love Lindsay’s rustic cake table. Creative couple Lindsay and Matthias made most of the rustic decor for their wedding in Greyton and as you can see, their DIY decor projects turned out beautifully!

If you love the idea of a rustic cake table, find out what DIY bride Lindsay had to say about making rustic cake stands and watch the video to find out how to recreate this rustic look for your celebration…

“A friend of ours runs a tree felling business, and often cuts down trees that then just get dumped. We asked him for wood off-cuts which we used to make log tree stump seats, round wood slices for the flowers to go on to on the tables, and a large wooden slice as a cake stand! It looked so great with the rustic theme…”  – Lindsay (see her wedding here).

Love the look? Watch Frank Fontana of the Craftsman Experience make an elevated rustic cake stand in the video below. Time to haul out the power tools : )

These look really cool, its a good idea and I think I am going to make some to put the pots on on the dining room table, may need a bit of varnish and sanding to get a smooth effect.
