Marianna and Martin’s Gorgeous Garden Wedding

by Monique on November 27, 2012 · 0 comments

We’ve all heard the expression, ‘the renaissance man’ but I think it’s about time we start celebrating renaissance women. Women that prove that you can follow your dreams, build a business, have fun while you’re at it, and still make time for family, friends and romance.

And if you’re looking for an example of a renaissance woman, look no further than Marianna Boguslavsky! Marianna has a head for business and runs her own digital marketing consultancy, an eye for style, which she shares with her sister Alla on their fashion blog the Boguslavskysisters, and a heart for Martin! It’s an honour to feature Marianna and Martin’s gorgeous lilac and pink wedding, set in the Constantia Uitsig gardens…

{How We Met}

We met at a mutual friend’s poker evening. We ended up sitting next to each other and chatted a bit. He sent me a text the next day inviting me to lunch. Our first date was at Sevruga over sushi and wine, which is where we still go for any celebrations or anniversary dinners.

{The Proposal}

It was lovely, intimate and special. He took me for a picnic at a wine estate where we had one of our first dates. He was so nervous. We got as far as the prawn starters and then he just stopped talking, got on one knee and asked me to marry him. I couldn’t stop smiling that whole day.

{The Wedding}

Our wedding colours were soft and romantic lilac and dusty pink. It was a garden wedding at Constantia Uitsig and we just loved the ceremony area with the Table Mountain as the backdrop.

{The Memorable Moments}

My dad telling me I looked beautiful. Walking down the aisle towards my future husband. Seeing him smile at me and hold my hand during the ceremony. The dancing. Seeing how our friends enjoyed themselves. The incredibly kind speeches and songs by family and friends. Oh and the lamb shank (props to River Cafe on the amazing food).

{Advice for Brides-To-Be}

  • Just enjoy it!! It really is your special day so make sure not to worry about insignificant things that will just not matter years down the line.
  • Make sure to include your family in the planning, it will make them feel an important part of this special time in your life.
  • Wear relatively comfortable shoes so you can dance, for us it was one of the highlights as our DJ was amazing.
  • Food is important…taste everything before the actual day so you know exactly what the guests will be served.
  • Try get someone to do the actual arrangements on the day so it is exactly the way you planned it.
  • As everyone says, it does go by fast, so look around once in a while and let it all sink in.
