Lezelle & Nicholas’s Forest Wedding

by Monique on November 11, 2015 · 1 comment

When an experienced wedding photographer says it’s one of the most magical weddings she’s ever photographed, you know it’s going to be good!

Abigail K Photography-75“It was one of those days where absolutely everything fell into place, and I mean EVERYTHING,” explained Abigail K, in her blog post about this gorgeous wedding day.

Since taking a break from blogging, this is the first wedding to be featured on Oh Darling Days and, wow, what a comeback! Enjoy…

How We Met

We met at a gathering of guitarist. Everyone brought gear to show and Nicholas brought an amp that he built. Lezelle was part of a band as a vocalist with two of the guitarist there.
Nicholas brought a camera along and was taking photos and videos. We started talking after he uploaded some of the photos and videos for the group.

The Proposal

It was nearing the end of September and we heard there was still snow in Ceres at the Martroosberg Nature Reserve. Nicholas’ parents wanted to go there and he thought that sounds like the perfect place… The next morning we were up early and heading off to the snow. I had a suspicion that he was going to ask me the previous day. What I didn’t know was that he only got the ring the previous day! Nicholas saya he had some difficulty hiding it for a bit… We were fooling around in the snow throwing each other with snowballs and freezing! Suddenly Nicholas dropped down on one knee – in the snow! – and asked me to marry him! I was so surprised that I was speechless for a while. It was magical and so special!

Memorable Wedding Moments

Nicholas: Seeing Lezelle walk down the aisle and looking breath-taking.
Lezelle: Actually the whole day was SO SUPER special and magical. I can’t single out one part as my favourite. I felt like a fairytale princess who got to marry her prince Charming … We got our happily-ever-after in such a beautiful and special way! It was so much more than I could ever dream of. We’re so blessed. The only thing I can single out more than the beauty of everything from the weather to the venue (and everything just running so smoothly without any hiccups…) was the people I got to share the day with… My husband, our family, our friends (or rather extended family and the happiness and love that was present the whole day. Pure bliss.

Advice for Brides & Grooms-To-Be

Nicholas: Plan ahead and try to do things on schedule.
Lezelle: What Nicholas said! And to add – get everything sorted as soon as you can to prevent that you have a ton of things weighing on your shoulders the week/day before the wedding. Also – do a lot of research when deciding on your service providers. Meet up with them personally before deciding. We owe a lot of the credit for our fairy-tale day to our amazing service providers who just all went the extra mile for us. And get people to help! Don’t do everything yourself. We had such amazing support.
