How We Met

Last year my family & I went to Mosselbay for the holidays. I was so thankful to be there and to have such special people in my life, it’s like I knew something wonderful was coming my way.

On the night that we celebrated my sister’s engagement, we invited a few friends to came along and Wihann was one of them. I’ve never met Wihann before so that night he was quite shy and didn’t say much but, little did I know what his thoughts were about me.

A few nights later we joined Wihann and a few friends at the Bush Lapa in Herolds Bay for a Heuwels Fantasties concert. That night Wihann started talking to me a little more and I could see he was such a gentleman. When we got back home we started texting and got to know a lot about each other. Wihann took me out on our first date in January and after that we started seeing each other a lot more. Wihann asked me out on 21 February 2015 with a red rose after dinner with friends & family, it was without a doubt the SECOND best day of my life.

The Proposal

Wihann and I have been in a relationship for 5 months when we started looking at engagement rings. I fell in love with a ring but Wihann said that we should browse a little more to be certain.

One evening in September we had dinner with Wihann’s family and I was so excited to tell them that Wihann & I had planned on searching for an engagement ring that coming Saturday, but Wihann had something else in mind for us for that weekend…

All of a sudden Wihann’s dad asked him if we would like to go to Wilderness for the day (that coming Saturday) for something very important and without a doubt Wihann had said yes. I was a little disappointed because I was so excited to go and find the perfect ring, although I’ve already seen “the one”, but I agreed on going to Wilderness with Wihann for this very important matter.

Wihann phoned me on the Wednesday morning and said that my parents are fine with us going but there’s one problem… there are no flights available back to Jhb on the Saturday evening, so we’ll have to sleep over, it sounded good to me because it gave us a little more time to spend together. In the meantime Wihann’s sister and her husband were going to Bloubergstrand that weekend for their anniversary.

We were so in love and the weather was perfect when we got to George. Wihann rented a car for us and we drove up to Wilderness. We got out of the car at beach and took off our shoes to go for a walk. As we walked along the beach, Wihann started getting really nervous and said the same words over and over. We headed to this big rock in front of us and as we walked around it I heard music playing… A beautiful blanket was laid out on the sand with a picnic basket and champagne. I will never forget my reaction… “ahhh my love someone is getting engaged today”. As I turned around Wihann went down on his one knee and popped the big question. He took the beautiful ring out of his pocket and it fitted me perfectly. It was the exact ring that I wanted. I can honestly tell you that I have not suspected anything and was really surprised.

Wihann then called his sister and her husband and it all finally made sense… they never went to Bloubergstrand, instead they went to Wilderness to get everything ready for our special day.

It was without a doubt the best day of my life. I have met the man of my dreams and in less than 7 months we got engaged, I’ve never been so sure about anything in my life. Wihann is my first love and definitely my last.
